RICK’S RUN UPDATE 2025
Well, we did it again! Fifteen qualified Walworth County graduating Seniors from the class of 2025 will be receiving a $1,500 boost to start their futures!! The support from our communities has been overwhelming to say the least, and YES we are making a huge difference! The applications for this year’s awards are already coming in and I can’t wait to read through them. The passion these kids have is so refreshing and to know we can help them makes all of this so worth it.
On a sad note, the Rick’s Run family suffered two significant and heartbreaking losses in the past year. On June 26th of 2024, Tom “Tommy” Purcell passed away. I could go on for a couple of pages listing the many things that Tommy did for his friends, family, and community but those of us that knew him already know all of that and if you don’t, just ask one of us. Tommy and Rick were not only both phenomenal Mechanics and business owners, they were the best of friends. When Rick passed away, I had the idea for Rick’s Run and I pitched it to Tommy who immediately got out his checkbook and wrote me a $1000 check for “seed money” and paid for all of the printing for the first 2 years. Without Tommy Purcell, Rick’s Run Inc. would not be making the impact we currently are able to. You are and will be forever missed Tommy… Our family took another big hit on January 11th of 2025 when Rick’s sister Lauren passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, 14 years to the day after her brother. Lauren was a staunch supporter of this organization and could always be counted on to help when needed. She could definitely light up the room when she walked in, and if the party wasn’t started yet she got it going! Our hearts are heavy knowing she will not be with us this year but I’m sure she’s with her little brother and having a blast.

We will again be having our Rick’s Run Poker Run starting and ending at Greenies
Clubhouse on the Delbrook Golf Course. Same format as last year with the 9 stop run being self guided, you receive a stamp for each stop you hit, and get to draw a card for each stamp to make your best hand when we get back to Greenies. The last stop will again be the Boar’s Nest in Allens Grove where we will group up and take our Police Escorted ride back to Greenies for our gourmet dinner, live entertainment, raffle prizes, and fun. There may be a few surprises this year but I’m still working on those.
September 20th, 2025
Rick’s Run The Green Golf Outing will be taking place at a new venue this year. We took the
opportunity to secure the date at the Evergreen Golf Course in Elkhorn and am I ever excited about this!! We are making plans to have this be the biggest event we have put on so far. I have a few very special people helping us put this together and the staff at Evergreen definitely knows how to put on an outing! Stay tuned to the website for further updates on all of our events.
